Great Hiking Trails in & Around Hendersonville, North Carolina

Beautiful and secluded trails, ranging from easy to hard in difficulty, in the Hendersonville, NC area.

The first and probably most popular hiking location is Chimney Rock in Bat Cave, NC. There is an admission fee to get into Chimney Rock Park, but once inside the park you can spend an entire day hiking and observing the beauty of the park. There are trails that take you to waterfalls you cannot see from the road or any other place in the park. These trails range from easy to strenuous. The fee is $14.00 per adult over the age of 15 and $6.00 for children between 6 and 15. Children under 6 get in for free, and if you bring a group rates are discounted . The park is conveniently located on Highway 64 in Bat Cave, NC. Coming from any direction, just take exit 49A off of interstate 26 and follow 64 for 15 miles until you see park entrance on the right.

Jump Off Rock is also a popular hiking spot. The trails at Jump Off Rock also vary from easy to strenuous and are all free to access. This is a great place not only to hike, but also to watch the sunset or just overlook the mountain ranges in the distance. There is a phenomenal view of the Pisgah and Blue Ridge mountains. The park is open from dawn until dusk everyday year-round. All of the trails are clearly marked and safe for hikers of all ages. Jump Off Rock is located approximately 5 miles from historic downtown Hendersonville. From downtown Hendersonville 5th Avenue West leads directly to the park, ending at the entrance.

And last, but definitely not least, is DuPont State Forest. DuPont is located in Henderson County, approximately 15 minutes from historic downtown Hendersonville. To get to the forest from downtown Hendersonville you would simply follow Church Street to Kanuga Road. Once on Kanuga, follow the road until it becomes Crab Creek Road. Once on Kanuga/Crab Creek for a total of 11 miles, turn left onto DuPont Road and the forest entrance is approximately 3 miles down . The trails at DuPont State Forest lead to waterfalls and swimming areas. It is a great place to spend the afternoon hiking, or the entire day hiking to swimming and photography destinations.

All of these places should easily meet the expectations of tourists or local hikers looking for a new and beautiful area to spend their summer and fall days. After all, Hendersonville has always been known for its untouched beauty and nature.
