Cedar Ridge Preserve

Cedar Ridge Preserve is located 20 minutes outside of Dallas and is 633 acres of picturesque terrain that features 10 miles of hiking trails and fascinating natural habitat. This beautiful hill country is one of the most sought after hiking locations south of Dallas that has its own native plant nursery, butterfly garden, and great picnic areas. The Cedar Ridge Preserve is perfect for school outings, family get-together or for enjoying a peaceful one -on- one time. The park is open from sunrise to sunset, Tuesday-Sunday.

Bonham State Park

Bonham State Park is located north of Dallas and is the perfect place to enjoy a day of hiking. Bonham State Park is 261 acres of rolling prairies and woodlands that features a 65-acre lake. In addition to some of the best hiking trails, Bonham State Park offers fishing, camping, great picnic areas, biking, boating and swimming. The 11-mile biking and hiking trail is easily marked and is situated along some of the most beautiful natural habitat and grassland. Bonham State Park is open 7 days a week year-round.

LB Houston Park

LB Houston Park is located north of Dallas, nestled between Northwest Highway and I-35 highway. This small, but quaint 7 mile hiking trail is perfect for the beginner or for the experience hiker who looking for a quick trail. This single track-hiking trail has multiple loops with plenty of nature numerous trees. LB Houston Park is open from 6am-10pm, 7 days a week.

Cross Timbers Hiking Trail

Cross Timbers hiking trial is located outside of Dallas 35 miles NW of Sherman along the shoreline of Lake Texoma. Cross Timbers is 14 miles of beautiful shoreline and rocky terrain high above the lake. This trial begins at the Juniper Point recreation area and travels through Cedar Bayou and Paw Paw Creek resorts. Cross Timbers is well marked and have reference points with mile points. This trail is considered moderately difficult so if you are a beginner, be sure to have someone more experienced hiking with you. The great thing about Cross Timbers is that you can camp along the trail at one of the wilderness camps or recreation areas, which only adds to the wonderful excitement of a true hiking adventure.
